Christian Center began with a Tuesday night prayer meeting in June 2006 with approximately 35 people in attendance.  We held our first business meeting to organize the church on June 20, 2006.  The first Sunday morning worship service as Christian Center was held at the AMC 30 Theatre with 92 present.

Soon we were searching for property to purchase for future construction site of a new church building, and in September 2006 the church secured a loan in the amount of $225,000 to purchase 7.5 acres at 4301 Cartwright Road.  Our goal was to pay for this property in less than five years, but in July 2007 the loan was paid off, less than one year from loan origination.

Sunday morning worship attendance grew to a high of 147 by early November 2006, and weekly Tuesday evening prayer meetings changed location to Gethsemane Baptist Church.  On December 27, 2006 there were 157 in attendance for the children’s Christmas program.  In December 2007 well over 200 attended the Christmas banquet.

The AMC theatre was no longer large enough for our needs and on April 1, 2007 we began meeting at our current location at the Chapel at Sunnyvale Baptist Church.  This is a newer, larger facility with several classrooms.  Plans are to remain at this location until construction is completed of our new church facility at 4301 E. Cartwright Rd., planned for the beginning of 2009.  

During our brief history we have seen 11 people baptized on profession of faith, 5 children dedicated and young adults growing and serving in ministry.  Our members are committed in unity as a church family to God and to the community and are excited about the opportunities God is providing to serve Him.
